At Kwiaciarnia Miłość, we believe flowers are more than beautiful decoration. They are emotions, gestures, and stories held in petals. No wonder we all want these small wonders of nature to please the eye for as long as possible.
Today, I will share a few proven, simple methods we use every day so your bouquets can delight with freshness even as the days pass.
1. Fresh water is essential, but not just any water
Water is life for flowers, but not every kind of water serves them well. It is best to use boiled or filtered water at room temperature. Why? Because chlorine and limescale from tap water can shorten the life of the stems. Change the water every day, and wash the vase thoroughly each time.
A clean environment means longer freshness.
2. Trim with care and precision
Not everyone knows that the way stems are cut matters a great deal. Use a sharp knife or pruning shears and trim the ends at a 45-degree angle, preferably under running water. This opens the stems and helps them take up water more easily. Repeat this every two days and you will see the difference.
3. Flowers do not like heat or drafts
Although it may be tempting to place a bouquet on a sunny windowsill, it is better to avoid it. Direct sun, radiators, and air conditioning speed up wilting. Flowers love bright but cool and calm places, away from drafts.
4. Remove leaves from the lower part of the stems
Every leaf submerged in water can become a source of bacteria that speeds up decay. Before placing a bouquet in a vase, remove all leaves that may touch the water. Your flowers will thank you for it.
5. Flower food: a small gesture with a big effect
At Kwiaciarnia Miłość, we always include flower food with bouquets to extend the life of the arrangement. It is worth using it. This small addition really makes a difference, helping flowers keep their freshness and beautiful appearance for longer.
6. Do not mix everything in one vase
Did you know that some flowers can affect their companions badly? For example, narcissi and daffodils release substances that may harm other flowers. If you want to combine them, remember to soak them separately in water for a few hours before placing them in a shared vase.
Flowers repay care
Flowers are living things, and just like us, they respond to care, tenderness, and attention. From experience, I know that bouquets treated with heart repay us with freshness for many days, and sometimes for weeks. That is why it is worth giving them a few minutes each day; they will please the eye much longer.
